I was first introduced to Nikki Minaj almost two years ago.  I was looking for a remix to Beyonces Single Ladies and discovered this one.  I also remember when I heard this I thought she British... At the time I was going on and on how female rappers have disappeared, are getting no respect, and most importantly are not equals to male rappers.

I would like to take a moment to clarify something that has been brought to my attention this morning. It is very easy for comments to be taken out of context and create unnecessary drama-especially between us women. So I would like to tell you all directly so my words can not be misconstrued to sell someone else’s story…I have absolutely nothing against Lady Gaga or any other female artist in this business. I think she is great, and I appreciate any woman fearless enough to go against the norm. She has earned her success with hard work and a clear focus and I have nothing but respect for that.
There is room for all of us on everyone’s iPods.

This is not the first time I have been unfairly pitted against another female artist but it will be the last time I comment on the matter.

I know that Toni has lost some massive steam for her music over the past few years, but I just love her. Shes nice, she's considerate, her voice sounds great, and anyone ca tell she is hard core trying. My favorite track has got to be, "If I have to wait" - too good. Love "Lookin at me" and "wardrobe" for the energy. And of course I love the singles. This CD is worth it, big time.

After what happened at Blackground (worst label ever) I am VERY glad to see her on Atlantic....please keep her Atlantic! Good luck this week Toni!

Fantastic, fun, crazy video - well done Xtina! If I hear one person compare this video, the song, or Christina herself to Lady Gaga, I'm going to implode, that's right, I will implode and then disappear.

They both have blond hair, can sing and like to mix up styles. That's where it ends. they are two pop stars on similar paths, that's it. No one is copying anyone. If anyone read Christina article's in 2006/2007 right after "Back to Basics" came out - she said her next album would be a complete turn around from the retro old school sounds. The next album (Bionic) would be current and make you move. Lady gaga wasn't even around then, correction, she was, but she was Stefanie G.... Great job Christina, your material is growing on me and I am digging it!

I just read some other blogs mentioning Kelly abandoning her urban fans and audience and that this will never get played on urban radio, also that she's just following Rihanna, Gaga, etc...

HELL YEAH TO THAT!  Shes abandoning her audience?  Her valuable fans that ate up her cd's and singles?  Are you whacked out of your f***ing mind?  What? - the under 500,000 fans that bought "Simple Deep" and the way under 500,000 fans that bought "Ms. Kelly?"  The fact is, very few people would call themselves Kelly Rowalnd fans. Some people dont even know who Kelly Rowland is...we're in anew generation.  For her to want to follow in footsteps on soemthing that works, whats happening in American music today - GO ON MISS KELLY!

This is a fantastic pop/dance track - I hope it gets radio play.  But if it doesn't, we're in 2010 and it doesn't even matter.  How many people really listen to radio, like hard core radio fans.  Play on....

This is crazy!  Mariah's "I want to Know What Love Is" cover has been number one in Brazil for 26 weeks!  It is a good track and never got the attention it deserved here in the States.

Why Toni Braxton is Not Connecting To An Audience

Toni Braxton's new serially delayed album, PULSE, is scheduled for a May 4th release date.  In the past six months she has released three (four with a remix) singles from the album.  In my opinion all the singles are fantastic.  She's got that Ryan Tedder repeat chorus sound and it works on both "Yesterday" and "Hands Tied."  "Make My Heart" has one of the best and smoothest bridges I have heard in a long time.  That song is jam along with the horns and beats that make it pop. So why is this not connecting, why is this not on the radio.  They are all, especially "Yesterday," sure fire hits.

She has the album cover, tracklist, pre-order and music videos out or coming out.  Miss Braxton is on the cover of a few mags and is on the talk show circuit (Wendy Williams etc).  Whats the problem?  I think it may have to do with what Janet said recently about "That's The Way Love Goes."  That track would never be a hit today.  We are so consumed with Lady Gaga and one hit wonders (sorry Jason Derulo/Iyaz/Taio/etc) that other talented veterans are getting left behind.  Don't get me started on "Up Out My Face" by Mariah isn't a hit!

It seems that if it doesn't pop from the get go its done.  Sometimes it takes time to get to know a song or a track and really appreciate it.  I think that's the problem here with Toni. 

1.  She has to get back in with her old audience.
Connect with your old listeners, reconnect, reconnect, reconnect.  Find them, seek them out, what do they watch, who do they listen to?

2.  Connect with new audiences.
 Tweet about whats happening, social network til it hurts.  Talk about Gaga, make a bold statement. 

3.  VIDEO stirring...
WE have a video for "Yesterday" and vids are coming out for "Makes My Heart" and "Hands Tied" - get yourself some clean controversy.  You're a classy act Toni, keep it that way, but mix that pot up ala Robin Givens "He Wasn't Man Enough."

 That's enough for now, but keep your eye open for new Toni and more Toni.  I just hope it pops and connects.

ANGELS ADVOCATE - Mariah Carey's planned album cancelled

 Memoirs is such a good album, that I hope they just keep pushing these remixed singles off of that album as opposed to the new one that's not coming out at all.  This new one didn't need to come out, there's not enough of a demand right now for Mariah.  She needs to vacay and come back.  Take a break girl. 

It has been reported that Mariah Carey's planned album has been cancelled.

Digital Spy reports that her 13th studio album, due to be called 'Angels Advocate' will not now be released.

A statement on Mariah Journal said: "[We are] able to confirm that the Angels Advocate album, a Remixed edition of Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel will not be released.

Ke$ha is till doing amazingly well with Tik Tok, it is a fun track though! I'm interested to see where this girl will be in five-ten years!

Ke$ha continues her reign on the Hot 100 for a sixth straight week with "TiK ToK," surviving a strong challenge from Taylor Swift, who debuts in the runner-up slot with "Today Was a Fairytale."

As reported yesterday, Swift posts the highest opening-week download sum by a female artist in the history of Nielsen SoundScan tracking (since 2003), as "Today Was A Fairytale" enters Hot Digital Songs at No. 1 with 325,000.

International superstar Mariah Carey has completed her 13th studio album, ANGELS ADVOCATE, a brand new collection of newly remixed duets with some of her favorite artists, performing Mariah's favorite songs from her #1 R&B album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel (released September 2009).  ANGELS ADVOCATE will be released on March 30th.

In advance of the ANGELS ADVOCATE album release, two new singles were serviced to radio -- "Angels Cry," featuring fellow Island Def Jam artist Ne-Yo, is impacting at Urban A/C radio; and "Up Out My Face" featuring Nicki Minaj is impacting at Urban and Rhythm radio formats.  New videos for both tracks were co-directed by Nick Cannon and Mariah.  Both videos premiered on #1 search site VEVO.com Today, January 28th, followed by Friday debuts on MariahCarey.com, MTV and BET.  The videos will be available at all platforms starting Monday, February 1st.

VIBE magazine is back, but who cares. Drake + Chris Brown

Who cares, because it lost some punch.  I like the new format, but there's no meat and the two covers are horrendous.  Chris Brown then Drake.  The magazine shut down in June and came back last month, but it feels like these covers are from July and August.  Also, whats with the writing on the shirts, redic.  Nope.  C'mon VIBE, we know you have better.
